2017 OUR GENES Conference
The OUR GENES Conference is now in its 16th year! In 2016 we were thrilled to hear from Dr. Thomas Bock, President and founder of HeritX, with regard to the exciting work this new organization is doing to prevent hereditary cancer. Dr. Bock’s message of hope was so well received that for the first time we are pleased to announce a keynote speaker from the same organization two years in a row! Joi Morris, co-founder of HeritX, will bring us up-to-date on the exciting progress that has been made to ensure a future for our children and grandchildren, where drastic preventative surgery is no longer required.
Note, this year the OUR GENES Conference will be held in Calgary.

2016 OUR GENES Conference
“The HBOC Society/Risky Genes organization held an outstanding conference in Edmonton, which was well moderated by TV health reporter Su-Ling Goh. I was impressed by Mary McDonald’s vision and momentum she has created over the past years. Mary and her team not only demonstrated that they deeply understand the worries of the families and community they serve, but also that they effectively push for change and develop answers that will benefit all of us, for all future generations. Engaging young people in the discussion of prevention is critical because cancer prevention is especially relevant in teenage and adolescent years, and will enable our necessary research for better preventive options such as vaccines or other medicines. Janine Blair’s courage to go public with her personal story is admirable, and is leading the way.”
– Thomas Bock, Founder & CEO, HeritX.org – Preventing Inherited Cancer
